BornPrettyStore False Eyelashes #1107 Review + Naked 3 Palette Smokey Eye Tutorial

Hello, beauties! It's been a while, hasn't it? I haven't been keeping up with my blog posts as much as I'd like to, but I have a few blog goodies that I look forward to sharing in the near future. For this blog post, I'd like to share a review of some lashes I've been sporting on my night outs and dates lately. BornPrettyStore was kind enough to send me a couple boxes of lashes for review purposes. For this post, I will be reviewing the False Eyelashes #1107 and saving the other box for a different entry.

I'm sure many of you have seen variations on these types of lashes at different retail stores. They appeal to many because of how affordable they are and at 10 pairs per box, that's quite the steal! Born Pretty Store sells a wide variety of these types of false lashes in so many different shapes and sizes. While I prefer to wear thick lashes when I'm going out, they also sell lighter and more natural selections. I had somewhat of a hard time trying to pick out which lashes to review, and some of them I already had myself from friends bringing them back to me from their Asia trips. However, the #1107 looked like the perfect combination of thickness and length.

The lashes arrived in a clear box in which I've removed the lid here. As I've stated before, they come in a box of 10 and each pair lasts quite a long time. In fact, I'm still on my first pair!

The shape of these lashes make a fine choice if you're looking for the rounded, doll-like eye look. Since the lash hairs are longest in the center, that emphasizes the center of the eye and gives it that little extra lift. And while they do look somewhat thick, I'd say these are more of the medium variety. These were a bit long for my eye and they were poking me a bit, so I had to cut them. However, this is no big deal, as  I have to do that with most lashes I end up buying anyways. So let's now break it down into the pros and cons.

Pros
  • Great shape for making the eyes look rounder
  • Gives the eyes a little lift
  • Affordable at $2.99
  • 10 lashes per box--these will last you a long time before you ever run out
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Durable and long-lasting

Cons
  • Lash band is a bit thick so you may have to bend it a few times to adjust the shape
  • May poke the inner or outer corners of the eyes if not cut properly

Naked 3 Palette Smokey Eye Tutorial

I must admit, I haven't done a tutorial in a while and was a little wary of putting it up...hence, why it's taken me so long to update. But I've managed to muster up the courage (and patience) to whip up this Naked 3 Palette smokey eye tutorial. I've been reaching for the Naked 3 palette a lot more lately after figuring out which colors work best with my skin tone. Sad to say I don't use all of the colors, but this is one of my favorite looks to wear when I feel like adding a little romance to my eye makeup. The overall color theme for this particular palette is pink so you definitely need to keep it sweet and feminine. But first, let's start with the review!

Here is a full list of products that I'll be using in this tutorial:

  • Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer
  • Makeup Forever Invisible Cover HD Foundation #120
  • MAC Select Moisturecover  Concealer NW120
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz in "Ash Blonde"
  • Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in "Caramel"
  • Urban Decay Potion Primer
  • Naked 3 Palette (In order of use: Nooner, Factory, Blackheart, Stranger, Dust)
  • Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner (Black)
  • Milani Liquif'ye (Brown)
  • Mabelline Falsies Mascara in "Very Black"
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer
  • Candy Doll Blush in "Strawberry Pink"
  • NYX Matte Lip Color in "Istanbul"
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Dim Light"
  • BornPrettyStore False Eyelashes #1107
This is mainly going to be an eye makeup tutorial, as I'm sure most of you already know have your own foundation and face makeup routine. So before we get started on the eye makeup, please apply your primer, foundation and concealer.

1. Apply brow pencil to shape out your eye brows. As you can see, my lashes are quite light and sparse due to genetics and bleaching. Yes, I do bleach my brows every few weeks since I have blonde hair and it matches better to have light brows.

2. This step is optional, but you may go back and fill in your brows with a brow gel to brush the hairs into place. I also do this step to bring some warmth back in the otherwise ashy blonde brow pencil color.

3. With a medium eyeshadow brush, apply "Nooner" up to the orbital crease of your eye. This will deepen your sockets and serve as the main transition color.

4. Next, blend "Factory" a little past your eyelid but allow just a hint of "Nooner" to continue peeking out. Then blend the darkest color, "Blackheart", where your eyelid folds.

5. Use "Stranger" to highlight underneath your brow.

6. Apply liquid eyeliner to the top of your eyelid and line your waterline with dark brown eyeliner. You can also use black eyeliner but I find that dark brown goes on a lot softer and more natural. Take an angled eyeliner brush and apply a little bit of "Dust" to your inner corners.

7. Time to put on mascara! (Damn it, my friends were making me laugh here in this picture!)I love the Maybelline Falsies mascara because now they are a dual-ended product where you can apply mascara to both your top and bottom lashes. Of course, being a typical Asian and all, this doesn't make a huge difference so...

8. Add false eyelashes to complete the look. You'll want to go with something on the thicker side, as this is a smokey eye look and this works best with somewhat voluminous lashes. I will be giving more info on these lashes later on in this post.

And here is the complete look! I find this a very wearable look for those days I feel like dolling up a little more than usual. The eye makeup enhances the eyes without looking overdone and the pink colors in the Naked 3 palette work wonderfully for the upcoming spring and summer.

And because this look is on the romantic side, I had to break out the pink blush and lips. Nude lips and subtle cheeks work fine for this look but I think that a pink flush is especially appropriate for a date night. What do you think of this color combination?

Overall, I think every girl needs at least one box of these types of lashes I've used in this tutorial! They're inexpensive, reusable and are of great quality for their price. Although many other types of false lashes exist out there, these lashes are on par with many that I've used before. And I'm glad to say that these particular ones have definitely made it into my false lash rotation when I want my eyes to stand out in pictures. Check out BornPrettyStore's website for more choices in lashes, makeup, nail accessories and more. They have tons of makeup and fashion goodies for great prices, so shop till you drop! :)

For 10% off on your purchase, please visit their website and enter the promo code "TTH10" at check-out.

So what did you think of my Naked 3 palette makeup tutorial? The Naked 3 Palette is so versatile and I actually have a couple other regular looks I also do along with this particular one. I'm no makeup guru but I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. I'll try to do more makeup tutorials in the future. ^^ Also, let me know in the comments below what you thought of the false lashes I reviewed. Have you used any of these kinds of boxed lashes? Are you a fan of them? What are your favorite go-to false lashes you've been loving lately? <3

With Love, Tiffany's 50+ Follower Giveaway: Korean, Japanese and Sephora Goodies

Hello! It's been a week since I last updated and I really hope you all enjoyed my last entry on CC cream. That was one of the most fun entries/reviews I have done so far! Anyways, I'm really excited to announce that I will be holding my very first giveaway! It's been about two months since I started blogging and I'm so happy that I have hit 50+ followers on GFC. Blogging has always been my biggest hobby but to finally share my blog publicly and get active within the beauty blogging community has been one of my highlight's this year. I just want to thank all of you who have followed me, commented on my posts and come back to check on my updates. You're all are the best! I'm really grateful to be part of such an awesome, sweet and supportive community, so this is my way of giving back to you guys. <3

In this prize pack, I will be giving out a combination of Japanese, Korean and a couple of American beauty products. Some of these are samples that I got from my friend who was kind enough to share some with me after picking up some Tony Moly items for me in Korea while others are from my own purchases. I have a couple of full-sized products in here as well. For the complete list of the products included in this giveaway, please refer to the Rafflecopter description listing out all the items.

Before we get into the prizes, I'd like to mention that I forgot to add an individual picture of the Bene Premium Crystal Shampoo and Conditioner and I just wanted to let you know that it will be included as well.

Because I love false lashes, not including false lashes as part of my prize pack was out of the question. I was having a hard time choosing between Dolly Wink or Diamond Lash because I love them both but I settled with the Dolly Wink False Lashes No. 2 in Sweet Girly. A great combination of natural yet dolly, these will definitely make your eyes 'pop' and will look great on just about anyone. I feel like everyone has different preferences for the length and volume of their false lashes and this one happens to go right in the middle.

A closeup of these gorgeous lashes

I also included three sheet masks in this prize pack. Tony Moly's Floria line came out a couple of years ago but it has been one of their most successful and best-selling lines yet. I've used the Whitening, Pore Minimizing and Youth Energy line and I can honestly say that they are all wonderful. The Youth Energy Mask will really help plump up your face with moisture, making it bright, young and supple.

I chose the My Beauty Diary face masks in "Black Pearl" because out of all the My Beauty Diary masks that I've tried, these have been shown to deliver the best results. These masks are wonderful for whitening and brightening, as well as moisturizing. I know whoever wins this prize will make good use of them.

Now these are a few goodies from Sephora that I got as samples. Anna Sui's "Fairy Dance" fragrance was launched in 2012 and the packaging on the actual bottle is absolutely gorgeous. Sephora's website describes its scent as "sparkling top fruity notes of tangerine, mango and pink pepper", making this the perfect light and whimsical scent for summer. The Josie Maran Argan Moisturizing Serum Foundation is self adjusting and designed to match your skin tone. It kind of reminds me of CC cream; the concept seems pretty similar. And lastly, Benefit's the Porefessional is a balm designed to minimize the appearance of pores. I've heard nothing but great things about this primer, so I'm guessing all you ladies looking for pore minimizing products would like this.

This is another full-sized product I'm giving away. Some of you who read my Korean and Japanese beauty haul entry may have noticed the CandyDoll Lip Gloss in "Macaroon Pink". The reason why I'm giving it away is because I realized that I don't look as good in lighter lip colors than I do with bolder colors such as fuschia, bright pink or red. I don't believe I would end up using this often so I decided that I would rather give it away to someone who would.

This is the Tony Moly gel eyeliner pen. I don't use gel eyeliner anymore but when I did, this was literally the best gel liner pen I've ever used. Its small yet firm bristles pick up just the right amount of product and is flexible enough to apply precisely as much product as you'd like.

A couple of samples from Tony Moly. I've only tried samples of both of these products but both are definitely moisturizing. While the idea of using anything with snail gives me the shudders, snail products have actually been quite popular in Korea for a few years now and have been shown to have intense moisturizing properties. The Dear Me Waterful cream is great to use as a daily moisturizer or a night cream.

Lastly, here are samples from the Tony Moly Whitening line. I actually use the toner and emulsion on a daily basis and it's been great for keeping my skin bright and clear. I'm not really sure if it really whitens since I believe you need to use a whitening soap along with this. But if you're looking for something that refreshens and brightens up your skin for the next morning, then you will like these products.

So here are rules for entering this giveaway:

One winner will be chosen via Rafflecopter

Review: Dolly Wink False Lashes No. 16 in Dolly Mix

Why hello, lovelies! Wow, can you believe it's May already? I just wanted to thank everyone who checked out my last haul entry and for all of the wonderful comments! It seems like many of you were just as excited about these products as I was. With that being said, I bring to you my first item from said haul that I'm pleased to review: Dolly Wink False Lashes No. 16 Dolly Mix!

I've built up a good false lash collection now, but I noticed that I didn't have many lashes that were on the natural side. I really like wearing false lashes whenever I go out to events where I know I will be taking pictures. And many times, it's the ones with lots of volume that look best in pictures. However, when I saw these, I knew that these would be perfect as my latest addition.

For those of you who are not yet updated with Dolly Wink, Koji recently came out with three new designs for the Dolly Wink series. They're not very heavy in terms of volume and sort of fall between the classic designs and the Otana line. You should check out No.15 and No. 17 as well!

As you can see, these are definitely more on the natural side and looks best when worn with natural-looking makeup. If you try using these with dark smokey eyes, these lovely lashes will definitely get lost in all the heaviness.

You may notice that these look pretty similar to Dolly Wink's False Lashes No. 1 in Dolly Sweet. I actually wrote a guest review on Xlicious Girl's blog here a year ago, back when I had braces! =# The lashes alternate from thick to thin, but in contrast to No. 1, the size of each individual lash is relatively around the same length until it gets to the outer edge of the lashes, where it slightly tapers out in size.

So in the same fashion as my last false lash review for Diamond Lash's Glamorous Eyes here, let's break it down into three categories: Design, Comfort and Durability.

Design: ❤❤❤❤❤

To start out, let me just say that I love love love these lashes, hence the 5-heart rating! I wore these with my Geo Princess Mimi Apple Green (Bambi series) lenses. The Geo Princess Mimi series also comes endorsed by Tsubasa and as expected, they're quality lenses and have been quite popular among beauty bloggers.

For those of you who wish to add a more natural lash to your collection for a cutesy and girly look, I highly recommend these lashes. I know the design looks very simple and maybe a bit boring to some, but when you actually put the lashes on, it still draws attention to your eyes in cute, doll-like way. It's not as bold or intimidating, so I can definitely see people using these as an everyday or casual kind of lash.

I can see myself wearing these for when I go shopping with friends or for afternoon tea. Like I said before, these type of lashes work best with simple eye makeup, so I didn't bother wearing eyeliner for my lower lashes and instead smudged some dark shimmery taupe eyeshadow and glittery light pink eye shadow. To complement the green lenses, I paired them with NYX Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul, which is this pretty matte pink lip color.

However, for those of you who prefer lashes with a lot of volume and length, then I would probably abstain from purchasing these, just because Dolly Wink has so many other designs that would provide a lot more length and volume.

Comfort: ❤❤❤❤❤

Lashes? What lashes? Honestly, these were so comfortable that I sometimes forgot I was even wearing lashes! Because these are natural looking, the lashes end up feeling so light weight and really deserve their 5-heart rating. I had these on for around four hours while shopping and not once did they poke my eyes or weigh my natural lashes down.

And of course, you have the whole Dolly Wink brand to thank for that. Their lash bands are known to be super light-weight, in contrast to many other Japanese or Korean brands out there. With Dolly Wink, you can definitely expect comfort to be one of the their top prevailing factors.

Durability: ❤❤❤❤❤

Uh oh, now here is where we have to venture into the not-so-pretty territory. Understandably, when you have lash bands that are incredibly thin and flexible, you can expect them to be susceptible to easy breakage.

The great thing about how lightweight the lash band is is how easy it is to put on. You know how some lashes you kind of have to bend many times to adhere to your eye shape? Luckily, these lashes were one of the easiest lashes I've ever put on.

Unfortunately, taking them off was a tad more difficult than I expected. The lash band is really delicate, so you have to make sure that when pulling them off, you pull them off gently according to the shape of your eye. I accidentally pulled them off in a bit of a weird angle, and one of the individual lashes almost  got bent out of shape because the eyelash glue stuck to it.

You also have to be really careful when cleaning your eyelash glue off, because if you tug at it too hard, well, then say goodbye to your lovely lashes, because any breakage will look very obvious. While I'm in love with these lashes, I can't really foresee them lasting through that many wears.

--

Overall

Despite my 3-heart rating on its durability, I still highly recommend these lashes. Sometimes a girl just needs casual false lashes for those times when you want to dress up a little, but not go overboard with the makeup. If you look at Tsubasa Masukawa and other Japanese gyaru, you may notice that they're more about showing off the lashes rather than piling on the eyeshadow with dark smokey eyes to emphasize the eyes. While I love both styles, I love the carefree, light-heartedness of these lashes for the summer and will definitely be using these a lot more often.

--

Okay, now this is just for fun. I debated whether or not I should post these pictures, considering when it comes to wearing false lower lashes, I'm pretty much a noob. But in the spirit of practice makes perfect, maybe you beauty bloggers can help me out and give me tips and constructive criticism (be nice, please ;_;) .

So I paired these Dolly Wink False Lashes No. 16 with my Dolly Wink False Lower Lashes No. 5 in  Real Nude. I actually bought these a while ago but due to my noobness, I had undergone several failed attempts to put these on and never succeeded before this time.

The good thing is that I actually managed to get these on my lower lashes without poking myself getting glue all over my under eye area like how I normally do. For that I give myself a pat on the back.

When I looked at myself in the mirror, to be honest, I got a little freaked out. I know I'm just not used to wearing false lower lashes, because that was the exact same reaction I had when I wore my first pair of false upper lashes many years ago. I was like, "Ahhhh what are those spiders doing on my eyes?!" However, after taking pictures with them on, I found myself pleasantly surprised.

I actually sort of like how the lower lashes complement my light eye makeup and balance out the top lashes. Because these are more on the natural side, the No. 16 and No. 5 pair nicely together.

I tried to avoid putting it too close to my lower lash line because so many people say that it could rip out the lower eye lashes. And I already lack them as it is. Taking them off was...how can I put it? Excruciating. Evidently, I must have done exactly what not to do, because as soon as I managed to get them off, I found myself tearing up. Apparently, I need just as much practice taking them off as I do putting them on. :3

Wow, this was kind of a long entry. If you're reading up to here, thank you for getting through that with me! So what did you think of these lashes? Will you be grabbing these as well for your next pair of false lashes? Or have you tried any of the new Dolly Wink lashes in No. 15, 16 or 17? Please let me know in the comments below. And stay tuned for more upcoming reviews next week!

Japanese and Korean Beauty Haul: Dolly Wink, Candy Doll, Majolica Majorca, Etude House, Lioele

Hi everyone! I know I just did a haul post for my last blog entry but unforeseen circumstances sort of mixed up my posting schedule so here we are again with yet another haul. However, that's nothing to complain about considering the Japanese and Korean beauty goodies included in this haul! :D

Seriously, I cannot be more excited to try and review these products! Some of these products have been out for some time now, whereas a couple of others are more recent. I'm sure you probably recognize some of these. Let's have a looksie!

I've been getting more into Japanese makeup lately and I love how all of these gorgeous gyaru gals have such glowing dolly pink cheeks. While I've been loyal to the ever-so-wearable cult favorite, Nars "Orgasm" all of these years, the whole pink dolly cheek has been looking mighty fun for this summer.

As for the Lioele "Aroma Soft Peeling Gel",  since my favorite one from Laniege had been discontinued, I'm in dire need of a new one. My skin has been a bit problematic lately and I'm not quite sure why. That time of the month, perhaps? Hopefully, this little baby will do the trick.

I'm super excited to try the Majolica Mojorca Lash Expander Frame Plus. I've heard great things about this product and this is my first Japanese mascara. Crossing my fingers on this one!

From left to right: Dolly Wink False Eyelashes No. 16, Decorative Eyelash Play Cool #3

Dolly Wink recently added three more lashes to their collection, No. 15, 16 and 17. I had a bit of a hard time choosing which one of the three to try but in the end, I settled on No. 16 Dolly Mix because I need add a few more natural lashes to my collection.

I know Decorative Eyelashes are not as popular here in the States as Dolly Wink, but they're actually a Japanese drugstore brand of lashes, and has been endorsed by Emi Suzuki. I grabbed them because they were a bit cheaper than Dolly Wink and I don't really have many false lower lashes. Mainly because I haven't mastered the art of putting them on yet. Anyone have any helpful tutorials?

I also managed to get my hands on Candy Doll Lip Gloss in "Macaroon Pink" and Etude House's Etoinette's Crystal Shine Lips in "PPK002".

Isn't the color lovely? I'm afraid I just might be more excited about the packaging than the actual lip color. I have many pink lipsticks but none of them are as gorgeous as this one.

Takashimiya had these little Dolly Wink pamphlets that you could grab for free. This one features detailed descriptions of the Dolly Wink False Lash Collection, as well as information about other products in the line such as eyebrow products, mascara, eyeshadows. etc.

For those of you having trouble picking from the false eyelash collection, this little booklet is really useful in helping you choose from the selection, depending on what you're looking for in terms of length and volume placement. Now if only I could read Japanese.

Here are a couple more pages from the booklet, on the classic No. 1 and No. 2 false lashes.

I hope you've enjoyed reading this post! Please stay tuned for upcoming reviews on these products! Have you tried any of these products before? What did you think of them? And if not, which products are you looking forward to reading a review on? If you have any of your own past reviews, feel free to share them in your comments below.  I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks for stopping by!

Review: Diamond Lash Glamorous Eye Series

When it comes to going out and dressing up nowadays, I say forget diamonds, false lashes are a girl's best friend! I've gone through so many different brands of lashes, some have stayed in my collection for years while others have ended up gathering dust somewhere in a random corner of my house.

However, for the past couple of months, I believe that I have definitely found a favorite. I already had super voluminous false lashes, as well as very natural lashes, so I was looking for something in between--and I ended up stumbling across Diamond Lash. Diamond Lash  is a very popular brand that is often associated with the models from EGG, a popular Japanese gyaru fashion magazine. After browsing through the many varieties, I decided to go with the Glamorous Eye series.

I got these from PinkyParadise for $19.99 excluding shipping and tax. As you can see, they come in a set of 5 lashes, which is a pretty good deal, considering how durable they are.

And here is a more closeup picture of the lashes.

--

For my review, I will be considering four categories: Design, Comfort and Durability.

Design: 5

As you can see, these lashes are quite full, thick and voluminous. They alternate between thick lashes and a smaller criss-cross design that gradually get smaller as they go inwards towards the inner tear duct. The design is brilliant because while you have the thick lashes to give both volume and length, the alternating cross-cross hairs keep the lashes look natural enough to blend in with your own lashes.

I love these because they are super versatile and you can pretty much use them in any look. For a gyaru or doll-eyed inspired look, you can pair them with lower false lashes. If I feel like glamming it up, I'll use these with a smokey eye. And if I just want to show off the lashes, I'll do a more minimal look paired with a bright lip, like the one I'm doing in this entry.

As you can see, when I stick these eyelashes onto my lash line, I get the triple threat of length, volume and thickness. A lot of the super thick and voluminous lashes of there can get a bit fake looking, but I feel that these lashes add just enough glamour to give your eyes that 'pop' without going overboard.

Comfort: 4

Upon receiving these, I was a bit intimidated by how thick the lash band was. I was afraid that the thickness of the band was going to be very uncomfortable, as I have had some bad experiences with super thick bands and eye irritation. However, while the band was thicker than, say Dolly Wink or the Darkness series, it wasn't as horrible as I expected.

Due to the lashes being too long, I ended up having to cut the outer end of the lashes because they were poking the outer corner of my eye. After I snipped off the outermost lash and criss cross, it became a lot more comfortable. Whether you have to cut the lash band is really up to the length of your eyes and preferences.

I've worn these out to many different occasions such as clubbing, dinner outings and even shopping. After around four to five hours, I started feeling the weight of them a bit more.

Durability: 5  ❤

The great thing about the thickness of the band is how incredibly durable these lashes are! I've used the first pair many times and even after seven washes, they wear practically as good as new. They hold their shape wonderfully and are super easy to glue on and take off.

Overall

The quality of Diamond Lash is definitely evident in how long lasting these are. I don't imagine that I'll be running out of these anytime soon. And I'll definitely be repurchashing these when I run out. As my go-to lashes now, I must always have them ready on hand to bust out for any occasion.

--

To wrap things up, I'll add a few pictures showing off the lashes. Please don't mind the cam-whoring.

Just a note, I'm wearing the Geo Princess Mimi Almond Brown (Bambi series).  Since it was daytime, I wanted to go for a little more natural look while still showcasing the lashes so I kept my makeup minimal. My lip color is Revlon's Lip Butter in "Sweet Tart"

I hope you all found this review helpful. I'm a huge fan of the Diamond Lash series and I'm interested in trying out some of the other series. What do you think of these lashes? Are there any other false lash brands you are going crazy over? Let me know in the comments below!
